BIG BEND HORSEMAN’S ASSOCIATION
2012 POINTS RULES

Points are added together to calculate Champion, Reserve Champion, and 3rd through 6th place awards at the end of the year for each division.

Please note: Prizes will be decided later in the year based on our income and number of shows.

VERSATILITY CHAMPION:
The horse/rider combination must compete in at least two divisions for the year to qualify. Divisions included for this award are Halter, Gaited, English, Western, and Speed. Trophy classes do not count towards this award. The horse/rider combination with the most points accumulated in two or more divisions throughout the year will receive the versatility award.

SHOW PARTICIPATION:
Points are earned by horse/rider combination.

Each horse/rider combination must compete in a minimum of 50% of the shows each year in the same division. For example, to be eligible for a Junior High Point Western award, the horse and rider must compete in Junior Western classes in at least 50% or 5 out of 9 shows, of the point shows.

There are no substitutions for the horse/rider combo, except for the death of, or permanently disabling injury to, the point earning horse.

Points are distributed as follows: 1st place = 6 pts; 2nd place = 5 pts; 3rd place = 4 pts, 4th place = 3 pts, 5th place = 2 pts; 6th place = 1 pt. This is regardless of how many riders/horses are in the class.

Daily High Point Awards will be awarded in English, Western, and Speed Divisions at each BBHA show. You must be a member in good standing of Big Bend Horseman's Association in order to qualify for these awards.

NOTE: The Judge's decision is final for all judged classes and the time-keeper's decision is final for all speed events.

TO QUALIFY FOR END OF YEAR HIGH POINT AWARDS YOU MUST PAY MEMBERSHIP DUES PRIOR TO SHOWING, MEET THE SHOW PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS, AND BE IN GOOD STANDING!
